THE CALL TO WORSHIP:
Leader:  This weekend, our nation honors the laborers who built our land.
People: Today, we also honor the God who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
(Ps. 121)
Leader:  Jesus said, “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all necessary things will be given to you.”  (Matt. 6:33)
People: Society seems to work against a Biblical lifestyle.
Leader:  Jesus said, “My Father is working still, and I am working.” (John 5:17)
People: Lord Jesus, you invited the overburdened to come to you.
(Matt. 11:2)
All:      Jesus, we turn to you today for rest, reorienting and tasks you custom fit for us.
(Matt. 11:29)

*HYMN OF PRAISE:  “For the Fruits of His Creation”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Leader:  Creator of all, you have provided more than enough for all people, as long as people share, but everywhere around us we see two worlds.
People: The world of misery and the world of riches.
Leader:  Between these two worlds a huge wall prevents direct contact, meeting, communion.
People: We prefer not to see it.  If we did, how could we live as we did before?
Leader:  Jesus is the ONE who walked between the two worlds to give hope to the sad and distressed.  He also challenges to the self-satisfied.  Lord, forgive us.
People: He calls us to walk between these two worlds with him.
All:       As we do it for the least of these, we do it for Jesus.
(Matt. 25:40)

WE AWAIT GOD’S COMFORT AND CHALLENGE

*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

*WE PROFESS OUR FAITH (A Creed from the United Church of Canada)
We are not alone; we live in God’s world.  We believe in God who has created and is creating; who has come in the true human Jesus, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Holy Spirit.  We trust God who calls us to be the church; to love and serve others; to seek justice and resist evil; to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.  In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.  We are not alone.  Thanks be to God.
